Terrorism is defined as an act of physical violence intended to promote an ideology or instill fear. The cults listed here have members who have committed an act of terrorism as the direct result of adopting an ideology that is shared by the organization.

This label does not mean that the cult should be classified as a terrorist organization. Instead, it means that the group has been associated with at least one terrorist activity. Generally, this means that the cult intentionally organized the attack. However, it could also mean that one member was responsible for an attack, even if it was not endorsed by the cult as a whole.
